Milbank Hits a Hat Trick with Third Champions of Business Award

May 12, 2014 – The Kansas City Business Journal recently announced that Milbank has won its third consecutive Champions of Business Award. Coveted by the regional business community, the award recognizes those companies that demonstrate financial strength, innovation and community involvement.

“This is really something to be proud of, and I’m honored to be a part of it, to be able to contribute to the accomplishment,” explains Yasmine Paschal, Customer Service Representative. Paschal joined Milbank in the production area 10 years ago before moving into her current role. “I never thought we’d come this far all those years ago. It’s really exciting to see our progress, and I feel much more invested in our success.”

“It’s awesome that we’re involved in the business community in this way, that we’re recognized as being a force among these companies,” says Andrew Tait, Inside Sales Manager. Tait joined Milbank upon completion of his undergraduate degree in 2011.

Like many Milbank millennials who recently joined the ranks, this marks his first so-called real job. “It’s a big deal to be a part of this, especially so early in my career. These awards give me a sense of validation that the good things we’re doing are on track, that we’re doing the right things. It definitely makes me glad I’m here and makes me want to stay.”

“Champion to me means at the top,” explains Joe Ulberg, Shear Operator in Milbank’s Kansas City manufacturing facility. “This is something to be proud of.”

After more than 11 years at Milbank, Ulberg has seen a number of improvements on the plant floor.

“Things are much better today – we use the space better; we’re more organized; it’s not as congested in the production area as it used to be.”

“These people I work with are like family to me. I’m really proud of this award. I hope everyone is,” Ulberg said.

Employees will celebrate at a company-wide Champions Celebration in June. For more information about the award, please visit www.bizjournals.com/kansascity
